Friends of Brie Leon Interview with Laura Vince of Stone the Label Above: the Sabana Stud Hoop Earrings, Gold

Describe what you do for a living? What does a typical day look like for you?

I run my own fashion brand, Stone, which is an online based women's wear brand. Everyday looks different, it can involve a day of designing, reaching out to stylists, photo shoots, packing orders, running social media ads or receiving new samples from my pattern makers (which is my favourite part).

What was some advice you wish you were given when starting out?

To know that failing is ok and to use it as an opportunity to learn as much as we can. I think society can often tell you that failing is bad and because we fear it so much we forget to learn while we are going through it. Once I realised that failing is inevitable I paid close attention to the things that life, experiences and people were teaching me at the time.

What’s your favourite Brie Leon piece?

The Camille bag is literally my everyday go-to bag. It's my favourite because it is the perfect size to fit the essentials — Phone, wallet, sunglasses and as of 2020... your mask.

How do you approach your personal style?

I often dress very minimal and I keep comfort in mind. While living in New York I would walk EVERYWHERE so sneakers were a must and I had to learn to dress it up from blazers to suit pants with a simple white tee. However, every now and then I love going that little bit extra and putting on my heels with a fitted dress.

What are you reading, listening to and watching at the moment?

Being a business owner, it's so important to know as much as you can about the industry you're in so I have enjoyed a lot of articles from Business of Fashion. They have released a lot of really helpful and insightful articles on fashion and how Covid has changed the industry. As for personal reads I love personal development books / authors like Jim Rohn and Ryan Holiday who wrote 'The Obstacle is The Way'.
